Hello and welcome to Romance Recipes where I am happy to introduce you to a new author and a new recipe! Two of my favorite things! Today I am bringing you author, Eden Glenn, and her recipe for Crock Pot Apple Crumble along with an introduction to her erotic romance novelette, Beverly’s Secret. Please join me in welcoming Eden and savor her recipe for Crock Pot Apple Crumble as you read about her new book!
In Beverly’s Secret Makala makes a wonderful Jambalaya recipe. Makala is from New Orleans and really knows how to cook! She makes this for Beverly in their story. However, I gave how to make her Aunt Glorie’s Jambalaya to Rebel Ink Press for their Cookbook “Way to the Heart” which is being sold for our community project this year. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Heifer International.
Crock Pot Apple Crumble
Cut up 2 apples in slices (Makala prefers the granny smith ones), 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon in the bottom of the crock pot. Pour 2 cups of oatmeal and 4 cups of water on top. Do NOT stir. Cook overnight for 8 – 9 hours on low. It makes the most wonderful Apple Oatmeal crumble. Yummm!
Bonus Extra: Swamp Frog Juice = Party size: 6 2ltr bottles mountain dew, 4pkg lime cool aide drink mix and 2 gallons grain alcohol. Makala prefers the golden grain variety. For the more intimate gathering: Pitcher size 1 pk. lime cool aide mix, 1 ltr. mountain dew, grain to taste
Beverly Carter, clerk at Salynne’s Crystal’s and Thyme could have sworn she placed the amethyst necklace in the display cabinet. How did the gem end up in her pocket? She’d have to take it back to work in the morning and explain her mistake to the shop owner.
Trying the necklace on for just a moment couldn’t hurt anything. When the clasp won’t release she has to call on her next-door neighbor, Makala Reynaud for help. A woman that Beverly is very attracted to but hasn’t had the courage to approach. She hasn’t figured out how to confess her interest without outing herself prematurely. Bev’s pretty sure the woman is a lesbian too. What if she was wrong? So Beverly’s been stuck, just as stuck as the damn necklace.
Then, Makala’s red lips were just too tempting, too perfect, too close. Stealing a kiss could open a door to disaster instead of the closet on her sexual preference. Yet, the way Makala accepted the kiss and returned it with unabashed enthusiasm blew that door off its hinges.
They spent the night talking and exploring sex every way and everywhere possible in Makala’s small apartment. Beverly had to wonder if the rumors about the necklace were true. Was this some kind of spell that might only last the night? Could this be the beginning of something magical?
She took a deep breath, slipped outside and rushed toward her fate before she could change her mind. Locking her kitchen door, she went down the list of pros and cons as she walked to her neighbor. On the pro side, she had a reason to finally talk to Makala. This situation could happen to anyone really. Dread grappled with a giddy excitement.
She only needed help with a very tiny metal clasp, after all. She could manage to talk to the object of her fantasies about the darn problem. She paused in front of Makala’s kitchen door, exactly like her own. Maybe she should go around to the front. Oh hell, before she could stop herself, she knocked on the wooden frame. Shit, too timid, she knocked a little harder.
Makala jerked the door open with a whoosh so hard it stole Bev’s next breath. She stood there gaping fish faced. The woman was dressed in one of her gossamer sun dresses that made Bev think of sunshine and summer.
“Upon my word.” Makala had moved to the small north Florida town from Louisiana after the second season of devastating storms in New Orleans. Her accent was a unique lilting combination of southern and Cajun.
Air from Makala’s apartment enveloped Bev with a sweet aroma.
