Hello and welcome to Romance Recipes where I am happy to introduce you to a new author and a new recipe! Two of my favorite things! Today I am bringing you author, Maria Alony, and her recipe for Dried Fruit Truffles along with an introduction to her children’s book, Sweet Pete and the Magical Cookie Jar. Please join me in welcoming Maria and savor her recipe for Dried Fruits Truffles as you read about her new book!
This is a healthy and natural dessert:
Dried Fruits Truffles
1 cup cashews, finely chopped
1 cup dates
1/2 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup almond butter
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cocoa or coconut
Process the cashews in a food processor. Add the other ingredients and continue to process until pureed. Form small balls and roll them in cocoa or coconut flakes to garnish.
This is a picture book intended for young children and beginning readers. It tells the story of Pete, a sweet and lovable rabbit who unfortunately doesn’t eat healthy food–only sweets. He goes on a weird and funny adventure during which he learns a lesson. The book is fun and entertaining embedded with an educational message important for all children.
“One day Pete went to a birthday party for his friend Mimi the chick. All of his friends were there: Johnny the puppy, Mandy the lamb, and Coco the kitten. Everyone was playing.
Mimi called to him, “Hi Pete, come and play with us!”
Pete wanted to play with his friends, but just then he saw an enormous table piled with lots and lots of sweets.
“Just a minute,” Pete said to Mimi. “I’m hungry. I’ll eat some candy and join you soon.”
“Go ahead,” Mimi said, “but hurry up!”
Pete ate and ate and ate. He had a huge slice of a cake with ice cream, some candy canes, and a giant cookie.
But then Pete felt sick. His stomach was swollen and he was suddenly very tired. He lay down on the grass and looked up at his friends, who were playing happily.
“I think I’ve had too many sweets,” Pete thought sadly and he fell asleep.

Maria Aloni fell in love with books, literature, and writing shortly after learning to read and write. She wrote and illustrated her first children’s book at the age of 11. In subsequent years, she continued avidly: reading and writing became the central preoccupations of her spare time. Maria went on to study literature and writing while at the university. After graduating with honors, she decided that in addition to her vocation, her dream was to teach children to love and appreciate literature. She, therefore, turned her direction. Over the past few years, she has focused on her development as a writer. Only in 2013, after twenty years, Maria mustered the courage to publish two children’s books on Amazon. Following their success as bestsellers, she intends to publish more books for children as well as adult fiction.
