Hello and welcome to Romance Recipes! Every Thursday and Friday I will introduce you to a new author and a new recipe! Two of my favorite things! This week I am bringing you author, Lynn Cahoon, and her recipe for Magically Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake along with an introduction to her paranormal romance, A Member of the Council. Please join me in welcoming Lynn and savor her recipe for Chocolate Cheesecake as you read about her new book!
Magically Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake
Parris McCall isn’t much of a cook. She’s never had to be. Between her grandmother and the bakery/café’ near The Alibi, the bar she owns, foods just been there, available when she needed it. Of course, being a witch tends to help her ‘find’ just what she’s craving.
But Matilda Rose McCall? That’s a totally different story. Parris’ granny can whip up a batch of cookies on a whim, just because she thinks company might be coming. So in honor of the release of A Member of the Council, let’s do Matilda’s favorite Thanksgiving dessert, Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake.
Never baked a cheese cake? Relax. You don’t have to have magical powers for this luscious cheesecake to become the favorite at your holiday table.
Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake
(Preheat your oven to 350.)
1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (or use 2 premade graham cracker crusts)
3 Tbsp melted butter
(Mix together and press into a cheesecake form or pie plates to form a crust. Set aside.)
2 pkg (8 oz.) softened cream cheese
2/3 cup sugar
(In a large mixing bowl, cream together until smooth)
(Add eggs one at a time to the cream cheese/sugar mix.)
2 cups (12oz.) melted semi-sweet chocolate chips
(Add to mix and beat well.)
1 cup heavy cream (Or a can of sweetened condensed milk –not evaporated.)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
(Add to the mix, beat well.)
Pour into the prepared pan(s). Bake 55 minutes or until completely set. (A toothpick or knife edge should come out clean when you insert it into the middle of the cheesecake.)
Cool. Chill. And before serving? Slather on a mound of whipped cream topping with a shaving of chocolate on the top.
Serves 8-12 people based on the size of the slices.
Calorie count? Who knows, it’s the holidays. Enjoy.
A rogue hunter, a clueless witch and a mission to save an unknowing world.
Parris McCall, owner of the dive bar, The Alibi, has finally constructed a life where her little quirks don’t show or matter to anyone. As for her grandmother’s warnings that she’s different, well, she’ll cross that bridge if she comes to it. But when Ty walks into her bar, both lives are instantly changed.
Ty Wallace loves his life. How could he not? He’s a powerful human lawyer by day and the Magic Council’s rogue witch hunter by night. But after he agrees to substitute on his secretary’s dart team, all hell breaks loose. Now Ty has to help Parris admit who she is before her long-lost relatives kill her.
“Sally knows how to recruit a substitute.” Parris looked in his brown eyes, juggling her darts. “You’ve never played before?”
Ty shot her a smile designed to melt the coldest of hearts. Yes, he knew what he was doing all right. At least in the flirting department. Parris’ knees felt weak looking at him.
“I swear. I’ve never played league before. Beginners luck.” Ty motioned to the dart machine. “You ready or you want to throw a few practice darts?”
Parris’ eyes narrowed. Ha. He’d said he’d never played league before, not ever played before. Sally had brought in a ringer. Confident, she shook her head. “I’m ready to get this over.”
“Pretty sure of yourself aren’t you?” Ty tilted his head to the side, watching her reaction.
“You don’t have to be cocky when you’re good.”
“And you think you’re good?” Ty pressed. “A natural?”
She frowned, her face crinkling. “I have a lot of free time on my hands here when there’s nothing to do except practice.”
Another couple hours and Ty Wallace would be out of her sight, her bar, and her life. She wished erasing him from her thoughts and dreams would be as easy.
